I have to revert to access 97 from office xp to allow me to make changes to a pos software program I am running.
I removed office xp and installed access 97 pro but!
when I try to tun access I get a message " could not access the database you specified or you did not specify one at all" ??? when you click "OK" it just shuts down access?? I've tried removing access 97 many times and removing the pos software then reinstalling access first but I still get the same error message?? I now only have office 97 on the machine, I have removed the POS program yet I still get this error ? I'm totally stumped Help!!

Regards Ken

You can run all versions of Access on a PC at the same time but it's tricky to set up.

When you look at your pos software in Explorer is the extension .mdb and will it start-up from there?

Have you ever converted the software to XP or a different version of Access?

Hi thanks for the reply The POS uses access 97 runtime which is installed with the POS but will not allow you to modify the forms etc.....I need to be able to modify the POS but when installing office 97 all i get for acces is an icon (white sruare with a blue bar along the top) beside access in the office folder and when i try to run access I get the error above.

It's almost like its only running the access runtime thats with the pos program?

I have tried removing both office and the POS and cleaning my registry entries but the problem still persists even withonly office 97 installed ? help Ken

Are you accessing the Pos system from an icon??

If so is the Application in the same location as shown in the Target in the icon properties?

Hi I've removed the POS completely from my PC and when I re-install Office 97 Pro it still gives me the same error message ??
