I upgraded my computer to one that came with Windows XP. I have a program written in Access 97. Even though I installed Access 97 on the new computer I am having trouble with my program.

It is on my server and runs fine on the other computers on the network none of which are XP. I do not know if XP has anything to do with the problem.

I get the following messages when I try to load the Access Program: (with Access already started)
1. Invalid Database object. Click OK
2. Device I/O error.

When I click on the mdb itself I get a message that says:
path program name "The parameter is incorrect." The path and program name are correct.

Thanks,
Jim R.

Jim,

I have run into a number of issues with the XP platform and older versions of Access. I just completed a Access2000 project that worked seamlessly on W2K Pro, but throws a number of errors when it gets on the XP platform. In many cases, if the application has specific library references in the VB code, these do not translate well to the XP world.

First thing I would ask is do you have Access 2000 or 2002 already installed on that XP machine. If so, can you convert up? petersdaniel@hotmail.com
