Access 2000 Report Format

I have an Access querie that returns back 180 records. When I view these records in page print view the query is nicely formatted and in one column, but takes up 7 pages to print.
The data length is small column. I would like to create a report where the page has multiple columns (the first column wrapping the data to the second column and second to third, etc.) so that I can fit all the data on one page in column format. This list is a list of all defect codes for a manufacturing process and I want the operators to be able to reference this list while they are doing data input without having to go through 7 pages.
Anyone have any idea on how to do this. I tried multiple queries.... doesn,t work. I would like to use my querie that returns the 180 records to create a report.

Creating a report with multiple columns is fairly easy to do but does require a little effort on your part. It sounds like your query returns a single column. Use the report wizard to create a report using this query. After the report is built for you, switch to design view and note the size in inches of the field in the detail section. Click on File... Page Setup... Columns...

Now comes a little math. Divide the printable report width(i.e. the paper width minus the left and right margins) by the width of the text field in the detail section. You probably won't come up with a whole number, if you do use this number as the number of columns with 0" space between. If you have a remainder divide this by the whole number minus 1 to give you the space between columns. For example, your printable page width is 7.5" and field width is 1.7". You would then have 4 columns (7.5/1.7) with 0.14" spacing between (.41/3).

NOTE: if you have any group headers they will assume the column widths. Only the Report and Page header/footers will still span the entire width of the report.
