I have an Access Database that generates a report. Last Friday the report worked fine on anyone's PC that viewed and/or ran the report. Yesterday 3 or 4 people who could run the report on Friday now get the message below. Currently several are still able to generate the report including myself and it works great. We also had a person who cannot generate the report from their PC log onto another PC and the report generated successfully. So it appears that the problem is not linked to an ID but may be PC related or Access related. Is there a setting or property causing the problem?X-)

Access Message:
Function is not available in expression in query expression 'Format(IIf([Model]<>"AAA",IIf([Green_Actual]>Date(),[Green_Actual],"")),"dd-mm-yy")'.

Hi.

Sounds like you're using FrontEnd/BackEnd conformation. Good idea. Just copy the front end from one of the boxes that is working, and put in on the boxes that are not working. (This might not work if you've implemented any kind of security measures...I dunno...)

The front end is a database (.mdb) that contains all your queries, forms, reports, etc., everything that manipulates the data.

The back end is a database (.mdb) that contains all the data in tables. The front end accesses these tables by linking to them.

Always back up before doing anything. Well, it's ok to have a cup of coffee...

Gus,
You may have hit on the problem. Last Friday security was placed on the folder containing the database. Would that have caused the problem? The only thing that doesn't make sense is that some can run the report and some cannot.

The security was placed on a group of IDs but within the group some cannot open the report, myself and a couple of others in the group have no problem.

Is there a property or something I could change on the PC/Access 2000 that would allow everyone to have equal capabilities?

The expression I identified above is in a query used to generate the report. So I am not really sure how I would copy the expression to the report. I am getting frustrated at this point because the person who should run the report this Friday is one of the ones getting the message.

Please give further explanation.

Thanks! My mother who is 76 would not touch a computer. My parents have been married for 58 years this Saturday. Very admirable! x-)

I got the problem resolved last Thursday. The Access program was looking for a file that was in the VB references. What a relief! The file was mscomct2.ocx.
