I have a user who copied an Access database for use with Access 2000 onto a new harddrive running XP and when he tries to run the Macro he gets the message: Cannot Update - Database or object read-only. Please help!

first make sure that the file he has, isn't read only...
also, he's running xp, which is based on nt (some of it any way) check the file permisions for the directory... make sure he has read write create, and delete (or full control)... another thing, is the database locked down at all, any build in security there... maybe he's logging into the database with a user acct that doesn't have data entry permision, maybe the acct he's using can only view... check into that as well...

i would suggest checking in the access forums, you will get more help there for an access problem...
