Hello all-Happy Holidays!
My question is this...Can I set the transfer return on a calling group extension? I know you can set a regular extension to do a transfer return as I usually set all my vm ports to transfer return to 10. I am not at the cust. site and do not have an ACS to try it on. What I am trying to acheive is this- A call comes in to the AA and is transferred to a calling group, if no answer the call should ring to x10.
Thanks!

You can not set a transfer return for a calling group.

You can do a work around.

The installation manual tells you to set the Transfer Return Extension (#306) for each voicemail port extension to 10, so that transferred calls to EXTENSIONS without voicemail ring, and if unanswered, transfer to 10.

This does not apply to calling groups, however.

If you leave #306 for each voicemail port extension set to themselves, transferred calls to extensions without mailboxes, AND transferred calls to Callling Groups that are not answered will return to the VM port that sent it. Now the VM port will answer, say "Transferring to Operator", and transfer the call to Ext. 10 (or the Call Answer Service Operator)

On some of the Partner Mails you could actually make a mailbox 71-74. I used to do the on the large external R3. It would transfer return to the mail ports, answer with the group mailbox and take a message. There was also an option for message light destination on the old bugga under option 4 in admin.

I think, but don't quote me, that I have also made mailboxes on the newer Partner messaging R1,6,and 7 but don't have any message light options. However, if it's an R7 you could do phantom mailbox to another one and get them that way. There are goofy ways to do it with outcalling too. Lastly, there is unified messaging if it is available to the network and email server.

Here is the current situation. The VM ports are set to transfer return to themselves and what I am getting is the VM saying "Your call is being transferred" when the selector code for the group is pressed. This repeats immediately and I hear 3 rings and get the vm box for x10. Unfortunately I am in a different state trying to set this up remotely. It seems to me that what is happening is when the selector code is pressed for the calling group (3 goes to x71) it is probably not ringing the group but ringing only x10 hence the "Your call is being transferred" playing twice. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance!

Make sure that there are extensions assigned to the group. Only one call at a time can be ringing in the group.

It sounds like when the caller presses 3, you hear "Your call is being transferred" at the beginning of the sequence, the group is busy because of another call ringing, or no members are assigned (or every member is in DND), so the transfer fails, "Your call is being transferred" again when it is answered and sent to Ext. 10

Tommy- I think you may be right about no members in the group- the customer is making most of the changes to the ACS and I think he may not have set up the groups yet! Thank you for jogging my brain about this. Your a gem!
