All--potentially silly question, but couldn't find the answer readily via searches.

I set A06 keys on end user phones, and have conferenced several parties into calls before.

Is 6 my upper limit with a key like that? And, I assume I could go more if I needed it (up to the limit of our outgoing lines (48) for dial-tone).

gotcha, and I could set A03 for some users to be 2+themselves and A08 for 'power users' that would be 7+yourself?

thx.MB

To my knowledge, it is AO3 or AO6; have not ever seen AO8 as an option.

here's a strange thing.. ao3.. still allows a six party conf. back around rls 16 they allowed that.. i haven't tested it in a while.. for more then the "add on six" look up group call

cool, thanks all, 6 (5+1) it is.

good to know. thx.

I can't say this will work on all switches but I have conferenced up to 12 outside parties from the same phone. There may have been a slight drop in db level but it was not unbearable at all.

I think the maximum of 6 is a holdover from the days of analog trunks, when the attenuation on the lines added up logorithmically (did I spell that right?) as you added outside lines.
Five outside lines was the recommended maximum if you wanted everyone to hear each other. But there's no reason why you can't add more with digital trunks.

i'll bet your right, i haven't tested the limit in a decade. but for the reasons you stated, i would test it before i carved it in stone.. i'll bet our monday 9 o'clock conf has more then 6 internal

In the newer releases, it is 6; and you can no longer chain them together. However, on the IP sets, if the chair person drops the conference call, the rest of the call stays up.

oops - what it was supposed to look like:

I know the Nortel books may say that. And I wouldn't rely on having more than 6 in a conference. But it does work in a pinch.
