Hi There,
Our Exchange 2000 E-mail Filter [Under message delivery properties in System Manager] started giving Administrative limit messages. I am not able to add anymore E-mail or Domains in the block list. Situation is very serious that SPAM is getting increased by this new problem.

Here is the message I get when I try to add a new entries to the filter and click apply button at the end:

The administrative limit for this request was exceeded.
Facility: LDAP Provider
ID No: 80072024
Exchange System Manager.

Help!

Can anybody help me on this issue?

How many entries have you got in there? I've got about a thousand and its fine.

Don't keep posting "help" - it just puts people off helping.

841 entries are there now.
Server is of Exchange 2000 with SP2. The I am not able to understand anything from the message as it's some LDAP error message. Is there any fix?

what's the exact error? Have you got ldap running on 389 and its conflicting with exchange 2k which needs to be moved to 390?

Can you please explain what it means? I am not much familiar with LDAP issues.

Here is the message I got when I click apply after adding a new entry to filter:

The administrative limit for this request was exceeded.
Facility: LDAP Provider
ID No: 80072024
Exchange System Manager.

thanks

Zel - The port issue is only if you have Exchange 5.5

Looks like your not the only one with this problem. I have never used this feature since I'm in a lab. It is stored in AD. All values are limited and if you have reached the limit then there is nothing you can do. You would have to modify the schema and that is a big no-no. Dan

That is a sad news :-(. The whole company management is on my back asking me for a solution to the Spam. Can you tell me an alternate way other than Outlook rules?.A recomendation for a third party tool for E2K Spam filtering?

Thanks

I need a software which works with our Virus scanner. We have Symantec AntiVirus 2x for Exchange running on Exchange server 2000. Is there any SPAM filter software available which can work with this setup?

Thanks

The updated Symantec AntiVirus Filter 3.0 works pretty well. Of course it scans for viruses but it also has options to block by content (porn, discrimination, guns, etc,) as well as by specific domains that are sending you junk.

I say it works pretty well in that it's not catching all of the spam but that may be a resource issue for us. I'm in the process of increasing our system resources (another processor, and more memory) so hopefully that may solve some of our issues.

I agree with moving the scanning for junk mail off of the server though. Let the server scan for viruses and go to some sort of mime scanner.
