I've stumped just about everyone with this one! We have a windows nt 4 server environment with 45 users. 40 of these users are running nt 4 on the desktop with OFFice 97 and OL 2000. 4 of the users are running win2k w/off2k. 3 of these 4 are experiencing this problem: every 2 weeks on Tuesday at 11:47 am the network connection on these machines is lost for about 1 minute. In the lower right hand corner a notice says "you're network cable is unplugged". In the event viewer are messages regarding TCP/IP and DHCP. There are also messages saying another computer on the network has the same name (it doesn't). All three machines are plugged into different routers (we have 4 cisco routers). I have renamed these machines, and moved them, but still this happens. Can anyone give me some idea of where to look for the source of this problem? Thanks much.

Are you using DHCP to assign the IP Addresses?

Its just a thought but, maybe the leases are being renewed at that time and there is a duplicate IP address issue for a while until the DHCP gets its sh*t togeather.

Have you tried giving the 3 boxes fixed IP Addresses etc?
New Zealand, a great place to live.

Adding to the above reply...

Have you configured fixed IPs to any systems and gave them as part or the lease range ?

Typically happens when you have multi-homed computers. You could just change the computer names.
