Hello all,

I'm quite new to Virtual PCs and all that stuff. As a matter of fact, I have downloaded and installed it because I am looking to find a way to get rid of viruses/malwares.

My question would be: I do realize that Virtual PC is acting as if it was a physically individual PC, but what about viruses? If the virtual PC is infected by a virus or malware, would that have any effect on the host PC, ergo, would it be infected too?

what Virtual software are you using? virtual pc or vmware?
configure your Virtual PC network device to share your hosts network card with its own address, you have full control over what that Virtual pc gets access too.
And if you are really still concerned just ensure you have a good anti-virus and firewall running on the host will also help.

The one I'm using is Microsoft's Virtual PC 2007. Although it is a pain in the neck to get it running smoothly (especially the network), but it well worths the effort.
As of the question I had, well, I have since gave it a try and bravely ran a file of which I knew that it was infected. It did not infect the host PC and all I had to do is to replace the backup I had created of the virtual HDD and everything was ok again.
