The only tabstrip control that seems to work in Access is the one that comes standard in the tool box. And this one is pretty limited...

I've tried all the other nonstandard ActiveX ones that come with Access 2002, and none of them seem to allow you to place any controls on them. Even my Colleagues can't seem to get them to work.

All I'm looking for is a tabstrip control that allows you to position the tabs on the righthand side, and simply be able to put controls on them...

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Jenny

Hi,
Do you have access to "Microsoft Forms 2.0 - TabStrip"? I just added it to a test form, and was able to change the "TabOrientation" to "Right". Be aware that I did this in Access 2000. HTH,

Hi Randy,

I do have this one, BUT! Could you put any controls on it? That's the tricksy part (as Gollum would say...). I haven't been able to on that control...

Jenny

p.s. I am running Access 2002 but in 2000 mode.

Hi,
What kinds of controls do you want to add? As you must know, you can place controls on each of the pages, but I am not sure about the tab labels. Can you be a bit more specific? TIA. HTH,

Look at the tabstrip control properties>format>style - you can see that the tabs can appear as buttons, tabs or none, which gives you a clue how the tabs control which page has focus, and that they are merely buttons which merge into their own page. If you set the style to none, and then set buttons which bring each page to have focus down the right side, and hide the border between the button and its own page, you will have recreated what you want, I think. And you can add controls to each page detail as required.

Thanks Randy,

According to that link, it looks like there aren't a lot of ActiveX controls that Access does support. Strange.

I guess I'll have to use the standard one and make do, or use cOhOnes idea above. I just like to keep everything as simple as possible!

Jenny,
I did find another Tab Strip control - "Microsoft TabStrip Control, version 6.0". It also allows for placing the tabs on top, right, left, or bottom. Microsoft has a Knowledge Base article on how to use this control. Here is the link:

The funny thing is that I was unable to add any other controls to the tab page except for the subform as shown in the Microsoft article.

Very strange!!!! HTH,

I could only do that as well. But thanks for the article. It has opened up some other possibilities...

Another person sent me a link to:

which makes some neat Access ActiveX controls, including a tabstrip. However, they have the same issues with theirs...something about Access not handling containers very well...

If I find anything else, I'll repost to this thread.

Thanks again for your time,

Jenny
