Hi guys,

I've just installed a few BM24's on 9641G handsets and found that although they are 100% usable, Line appears keys function correctly - User keys are not.

The key is usuable (it will ring the extention) though it won't display when a user is on the phone.

I read a thread on these forums posted in April 11 that stated Avaya won't support 9600 series phones with bm24s. Is this still the case?

It's an IPO500v2 on R8.042

After looking into it more, i'm now unsure wether they are BM24 or SMB24 (i don't know what the difference is)

Does it have 24 buttons in one screen then it is a SBM24 and they are not supported and indeed the user buttons do not work.
The BM24 does have 12 buttons on two screen and these are the one you need.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks for the help, It would seem we ordered SBM24's.

I didn't even know BM24/SMB24s existed. There's only SMB24s and BM32 on our ordering tool.

Sorry, i see that i mentioned a BM24 but it must be a BM12!!!

Peter is right.

Its in the docs

from the KB :

The 9641G can be used with the BM-12 button module. A maximum of three button modules can be connected at one time. The 9621G does not support a button module.

Also this is punishment for using Line Appearance Keys on such a nice phone. Shame on you. :)

Wasn't my intention! they've had the system for a few weeks and just cannot adapt to not having a key system and requested button modules.

Thanks for the help all

according to a channel announcement I saw, the 9608 and 9611 phones DO support the SMB24, but the 9621/9641 don't.

"The 9608 and 9611G include support the pre-existing 24 button module as well as a new, lower-priced 2 x 12 button module on which features, speed dials, bridged or individual call appearances can be programmed. A maximum of 3 button modules of either type can be connected to these Deskphones and 12 and 24 button modules cannot be intermixed when connected to a single phone."

FWIW.
