Can someone tell me if the 9621G phone is compatible with an IP Office 406V2 system running software release 6.1? I know software release 6.1 is the minimum release required for a 9621G phone, but am not sure if a 406V2 is supported.

Thanks.

In the technical bulletin for the IP Office 6.1 Q3 2011 release it states that the following firmware is included in the release:

9621 9641 Telephone Firmware (Application file) S9621_41HALBR6_1r38_V4r5

Given this would the phone be supported in 6.1?

The technical bulletin can be found here,
Thanks.

Perhaps, but they require a 500 v1/2 chassis :)

The 6.1 Matrix doesn't mention them and that is almost always my source of info in such matters as it is build by real technicians.

9600 phones are ip500 only.
Thus the 96x1 too.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

they released them if my memory is correct and could not get them to work properly so they then took them off and re-released them at R 7.0 again
Tech Bulletin 127 for R6.1 says
9621 & 9641 Application – Not supported

and TB 133 says
IP Office Release 7.0 is the entry-level software required to support the following new hardware:
• TCM8 Base Card (IP500v2 only)
• DS16A/DS30A Expansion Modules (IP500v2 only)
• 9500 Series Digital Telephones
• 96x1 Series IP Telephones

Westi Your correct, when the 9608/9621/9641 were first supported on IPO there were many problems, especially the 9608.
I think it was with start of R7 ( could be late R6.1 ) They then put them on maintenance Hold, and not orderable for a while until Avaya came out with newer firmware for those phones. R8 was all ready out, and R7 was on its last ( or next to last ) maintenance release when they finally did this. These sets worked much better, but Avaya removed the VPN option.
They did support, and add a bin file for 9611 Phones too.

Well that answers the question : not on a 406v2 as its latest software is 6.1 and that does not support the 96x1 ip phones.

It was answered anyway, it was specified even when they initially supported it on 6.1 that only 500 chassis were supported, it was an ACSS favourite question :)
