Are you sure that there isn't any other DHCP server giving out those IP addresses?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

You can run a standard DHCP server and the IPO as DHCP server at the same time with the "Avaya phones only option" the handsets should look for an IPO first then try the normal DHCP server. But often you need to cycle the handsets a couple of times for it to work, I think the IPO does not respond quick enough sometimes and that's when you get the conflict error.

I have a couple of sites using this method with 1600's but only get this once in a blue moon :)

i used system status to determine which phone was using which ip and noticed 110 was jumped over i pinged it and there is no response, so checked all the vacants in my range and pinged all they are not in use.

i took two station and assigned the a static ip via manager and still DHCP conflict

i upgraded to 6.1.20 last thursday and reloded firmware to all phones

But it begs the question, why would you do such a nasty thing? In effect the 2 are fighting one another as both are in the same broadcast domain

VLANs are the answer, as Andy has highlighted

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

All the PC are currently connected to the Phones how do i setup the VLAN never done it before.

Then you better call your BP.
A good network is needed for IP telephony.
If there is no good network then you better stop using the phone.

Indeed, the issue may be the Router is a very basic DHCP sever, I have only done it in conjunction with a windows DHCP/SBS server and it worked on both occasions, but it's not ideal :)

Andy,
If you insist on using the IP office as DHCP server, why use an even shoddier router as well? ;-)

I dont think there is a problem using two DHCP servers, as long as the scopes dont overlap. It sometimes makes it easier to manage the IP phones if you have little to no access to their company DHCP to add your options 176 and 242 into.

In the same broadcast domain? Personally I think it is a bad idea especially with flakier implementations of DHCP (like the IPO)

Matt - you can have more than one Microsoft DHCP server with different scopes and options on the same domain..... I think the DHCP server on the IPO is a lot better than is used to be, since it now has to deal with a lot more IP based devices....

Indeed, but different scopes in the same subnet in the same broadcast domain is not the same as different scopes in different subnets in the same broadcast domain

Since there is only 20 Ip sets, you can turn off the DHCP on the IPO and manually put the IPO address 172.30.50.150 into the phones if the existing DHCP server does not dish out option 172 / 242 . Not elegant but it would work . Vlan is better solution but you might need someone to help you setting up on the switch port as it seemed that you are running a flat network . I believe you also have to turn on the .q option on the phone itself to enter the vlan id as well.
