I have been trying to get three new remote extensions to register to an IPO that we recently upgraded from 8.0 to 9.1 and we haven't been having much luck. No matter what we seem to try, nothing makes a difference. Every time, the phones come up with "Retrieval Failed" on the top line, then "Phone" with two arrows on the second line. We have tried multiple 9608 firmware files because I have seen a few similar posts that turned out to be an issue with firmware/system incompatibility, but I get the same thing no matter what.

I have one of the phones setup in our office trying to connect it to the remote IPO and the current setup is 9608>Cisco ISR>Internet>Remote Cisco ASA>IPO. I have ports UDP 1719 & 1718 forwarded along with TCP 1720 and the RTP Range in the ASA. I have checked the forwards several times and I have disabled any H323 inspects in the ASA. My next step was to go out and swap the ASA for a different firewall temporarily, but for other reasons we would really prefer not to.

If anyone has any ideas or past experiences similar to this, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Allow Remote extension ticked?

What doez monitor say.

'I want my hair back.' Says son at hairdresser.

I got this one worked out. The ASA was still intercepting H323 traffic even though the inspects were turned off. Changed the Remote Extension port to 1800 in Source Numbers and adjusted my NAT statement.

Just in case this helps anyone in the future, remember to change the Remote Call Signalling port under System>Lan>VoIP to match the new port used in source numbers.
