9608 Message Key lit but light on top right not lit

9.1.7 server edition. Message key is lit but message indicator on top right of phone not lit. No messages in box. Never seen this before. Happening on multiple phones.
 
If you have manual recording, the manual recording file goes in the voicemail user folder and that causes the light to go on.
 
Manual recording is not on. If it was the message would be in the mailbox and I would see a message. No messages and only the message key light is on not the other. I have never seen a time when both lights are not lit.
 
Make sure they record their greeting. It may be an invitation to do so.

I hate some forms of propagation.
 
Holdmusic34, what is this? Are you saying there is a new feature of some sort that lights the message light to remind a user to record a greeting? Is that what you mean? Is this a documented feature?
 
Not read it but i've seen it. Record the greeting and the light goes away. Other voicemail systems do it too.
There's no mw lamp in conjunction because there's no message waiting to be heard. Just the envelope lights up.

I hate some forms of propagation.

If setting is set for Forward or alert the message waiting light does not com e on. It just sends email. Not sure if message button lights up though

 
The Envelope key is lighting but the message indicator on the upper right side is not. There are no messages. Email is set to copy.
 
I am experiencing exact same issue, 9.1.6. same scenario. I will be going to cust site to work on in next few days. I will post if I find a resolution. I was thinking possibly a blank text message from soft console could have lit the message key. Message light not lit. Only one phone right now doing it
 
By chance did this phone have another user that left the company and you did a name change as it could have had a message in that mailbox from the previous user?
 
No, no recent changes to phone. System went in 8 months ago. No changes to this ext that I know of. Customer does do some changes but not many said he did no changes to user.this is an executive secratery and has sat in same seat since install. No name change
 
For me it seems to need a clear on the phone. The affected users appear to be the ones we used their phone for in training and then hot desked them in in class then moved them out to the main office but I can't confirm this.
 
Delete user and recreate it. i think there was a known issue to avaya that sounds like this fault.
 
FYI- my phone cleared.
I was going to delete the user andthe VM box, but tried just replacing the phone first.I was hesitant to delete the user since it was an executive secretary with all sort of coverage and Button module attached. Probably a Clear/reset might of worked on the 9611 also. So far so good,
