9608 handsets with analog trunks

Hi guys,

In my previous experiences with IP phones running on a PSTN system i've had all sorts of call quality issues (mostly echo'ing), my boss has asked me to confirm that 9608 handsets will work with analog trunks correctly.

Can anyone foresee any issues we might have in doing this?

Yes, you can never guarantee it will work as the quality of the analog trunk defines the result.

Would that not be the same case with digital phones also?

No, as the audio is not compressed/packetised for digital phones, there are many articles floating around which google will find that explains why analogue trunks and IP phones don't always play nice
