Hi All,

I have an ip406 v2 and am having an issue with callers dialing 9+1 and then dialing 1 again and without realizing it and then hanging up. This either results in a phone call or the police turning up if they get an auto attendant. I can see how this happens so I want to know if it can be simply changed to use an 8 to get a line?

Any help would be appreciated.

if you are release 3.2 or higher then you use ARS and you need to change only one shortcode
9N
N
50Main
or something like that, then if you make that 8N instead everybody has to dial 8 for the line access.
Then make a 911 shortcode to dial 911 on the line (otherwise you can't dial just 911 but would have to dial 8911.
done

seems the 911 is a neverending story, maybe we should change it to 999 or 112 to follow Europe

so its not just me? I'd settle for 8911. I'm on version 6.2 (4) so I guess its not going to be a difficult task then? Thanks for the help.

no problem, make sure you don't violate any local laws if 911 direct doesn't go out.
