I'm trying to get this 8600/200 working. It came to me with no RAM or VRAM. I've obtained some VRAM but have encountered an unexpected snag with the RAM.

The machine takes 168-pin DIMMs and I had some of those in stock (only 16MB but I thought they'd be big enough to test that the machine worked).

However, the DIMMs won't plug into the DIMM sockets on the board. The locating notches are displaced from the keys in the socket by just about their own width.

I've tried to locate the DIMM mechanical specification via Google without success.

I'm wondering if the DIMM locating notches are in varying positions depending on whether the RAM is 5 Volt or 3.3 Volt; please can anyone enlighten me?

Best regards,

Pete W.

The RAM I've got looks like Figure 2 on the link provided above - an asymmetrical gap between pin and left-most notch, as opposed to a symmetrical one.

Now there I was thinking all this stuff was interchangable!
