Greetings all,

I am trying to see if anyone can point me in the right direction - I want to try and hook a 8411 up to my computer using the RS232 plug but then I want to try and use the computer to go on/off hook, dial, etc. I would rather try to code something on my own then use that Pumpware program I see on all the Avaya sites. Does anyone know where I might be able to get the protocol information at. Just a little project I am trying to work on and see if I am able to do anything productive. Thanks!

Ryan

I think that pumpware you are referring to was just a special 8411 firmware for Avaya's softconsole application. A more generic api type program would be Passageway which is Avaya's tsapi for the 8411.

Is there a way to get the protocol information that way I can customize it myself and not have to worry about antiquated software that isn't support anymore? I just have a feeling it would be easier to do myself then fight with Avaya when it doesn't work on Vista.

I've done this in the past. If I Recall correctly you change the following settings in the station Page.

STATION

Extension: 02 Lock Messages? n BCC: 0
Type: 8411D Security Code: TN: 1
Port: x Coverage Path 1: COR: 1
Name: Test Coverage Path 2: COS: 1
Hunt-to Station:

STATION OPTIONS
Loss Group: 2 Personalized Ringing Pattern: 1
Data Option: analog Message Lamp Ext: 02
Speakerphone: 2-way Mute Button Enabled? y
Display Language: english
PassageWay? n
Media Complex Ext:
IP SoftPhone? n

This will open a extra page See Below:
ANALOG ADJUNCT

Data Extension: Name: BCC: 0
COS: 1
COR: 1
ITC: restricted TN: 1

ABBREVIATED DIALING
List1:

SPECIAL DIALING OPTION:

ASSIGNED MEMBER ( Station with a data extension button for this analog adjunct )

Ext Name (first 26 characters)
1:

Now program a analog extension for the above.
I might have forgot something
Hope this helps
Thanks
ED

What does this analog extension do?

The Analog extension will be the modem number. The RS232 port on the back of the phone will replace the Modem.

I guess my question is what does that do? Sorry but I am a little lost on this one.
