HI All,

Does anyone know if Symantec Backup Exec 10d (rev 5629)

supports a 800GB \1.6TB tape drive

I am about to purchase a

HP StorageWorks Ultrium 1840 - Tape drive - LTO Ultrium ( 800 GB / 1.6 TB ) - Ultrium 4 - SCSI LVD - external.

Many Thanks

If you're upgrading your backup device why not explore disk based options instead of tape? Take a look at the RD1000 from Dell or the products at CRU-Dataport. All disk based and you can get more native capacity on the media than you can with tape.

If you spending that kinda of money I would suspect you would look up the information. You can see from the above Doc's where its supported.

As far as disk based backup some copanies need offsite hard copies of tapes.

There are a lot of disk based solutions that are removable disks that you can rotate just like tapes and store off site. The RD1000 and a lot of the products from CRU-Data port offer those type of solutions.
