I have a total of 8 numbers that i want to go into a tie line that will go to a fax server. Where would i set this up at? Any help in the right direction would be great.

This is an M1 11c

can you dial the 4080 toward the far end? another test i use. disu all the trunks except 1, leave a butset on the idle trunk, then try 4080 to see if it;s sending 4 tone...

sorry for the delay, it's a little hard to trouble shoot via a forum..

1st step is to decide if it's hardware, or software and if software, which end..

no worries, i would be lost without you guys. when you say towards the far end, what do you mean by that? Leaving the but set where it is (on the punchdown of 13 00) and try to dial 4080?

the far end would be the fax server, it's got to have some sort of handshake with the trunk to work. Dial the number and stat the trunk, if the trunk is busy than you know your 75% there, you'll just need to find the compatability between the server and the PBX.

ok. well the fax server was used with our old PBX (same kind, just less TNs and a slightly older build) and i copied the configuration exactly from that pbx to mine, only changing the routes #'s, rli #'s and card #'s of course.

just called and got this...
>ld 20

PT0000
REQ: stat 13
00 = UNIT 00 = BUSY (TRK)(TIE LDR WNK )
01 = UNIT 01 = IDLE (TRK)(TIE LDR WNK )
02 = UNIT 02 = UNEQ
03 = UNIT 03 = UNEQ
04 = UNIT 04 = UNEQ
05 = UNIT 05 = UNEQ
06 = UNIT 06 = UNEQ
07 = UNIT 07 = UNEQ

so i guess im 75% there! lol

ok we are like 95% there. i get the fax tone when i dial 4080-4089 internally. but still get busy tones for external calls.

Are you sure telco has those numbers turned up? Are they outside your normal DID range?

that is a big step.. now if your sure they are did.. next step... your using frl 1 on your rlb, so that should not be a block... what are your inbound did built like, let me see that rdb.. might have a block there.. and one inbound did trunk

well we own 4000-4099. supposedly. but i wouldnt be surprised if someone laxed on newing some of our lines. let me try and find another set of ranges.

build a single did, just add it to your set call it from outside.. if it rings, nul that key and put it in as a dsc,

ok here is a strange thing. i had xxx-xxx-4020 going to my test acd. i know this number works from the outside. i outted the ACD from this number and then did a dsc to it to my RLI. it rings busy.

I think it's because the PBX sees the call coming in and trying to go back out so it's blocking it. Kind of a built in security feature. There is a work around. Make the 4080 an acd and ncfw to the acod of the rout. Then it should complete from outside.

is there anyway just to disable that feature instead?

I set up a quick acd with NCFW with the ACOD, it still does a busy tone.

not that I know of, your older pbx probably didn't have that built in. I had to use that workaround for some of our engineers that had trunks hooked up to modems. The trunks would grab dial tone from the modems and they could go back out their test equipment. when I tried it the way yours is it wouldn't work. Had to do the acd to the acod

In the morning I'll have access to the 11 and can post my setup that works. Does the server have to use a trunk? Will it except an analog port?

the fax server is attached to a "faxboard" which converts the trunk to analog line i believe... I am not too familiar with the hardware. but it works internally, so all signs point to the PBX then.

Here is a picture of the fax setup.

in a tandem switch, most calls come in did and go back out on a tie.. the cdb block can block calls coming in on a route and going out on a the same route.. because you can dial it internal, what is the ncos of the inbound did?
