8.1.7.4 download

hi

i am looking for 8.1.7.4 or later version software download from oracle (for windows), but there i found release 3(

http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle8i/index.html).

where can i get the 8i software release 4 or later.

i need this for another application i am trying to install which requires 8.1.7.4 or later version.

I thought of upgrading to 9i, but i dont know the risks of upgrading to 9i and may not be so quick to do.

the .4 is a patchset level. you have to install the 8.1.7.0.1 baseline and then apply the .4 patchset.

I assume you can still download the baseline(s) off Oracle Technet and the .4 patchset from Metalink.

just out of curiosity have you considered converting to Linux? Oracle runs quite nicely on it and is considerably more reliable than on M$ (just by virtue of the OS being so).

i tried both in metalink and otn, but no where its listed.

Choose the "Patches" option on Metalink, then "Advanced search". Choose "Oracle Database Family" from the list of products. You should then be able to pick 8.1.7.4 from the list of releases and Microsoft Windows from the list of platforms. Press "Go" to obtain the selectable list of patches for your chosen release.
