Upgrading from 8.1.7.0 to 8.1.7.4 on RH8 1

Good morning, all

I have been running a database on 8.1.7 for a couple of years and it was running smoothly. I upgraded this to 8.1.7.4 via a patchset from Metalink. However, I now get the dreaded ORA-03113 error when trying to start the database. The listener works fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Willaim, I assume $ORACLE_HOME, $ORACLE_SID etc are all set correctly? Have you any seesions hanging around from when the database was up?

The Oracle_home and oracle_sid are all set. I do not believe I had any sessions still running as I had shutdown the instance and stopped the listener before doing this.

Thanks for your suggestions. I had to run .setup_stubs script to relink and this solved the problem. Just in case anyone else runs into this problem the script file is located in the $ORACLE_HOME directory.
