My CD/RW will play 74 min CDs (HP 9100)? Will it play the CDs with greater capacity. The 80 min ones seem to be the most readily available.

Absolutely no problem!!
The 700mb/80minute discs tend to be more useful as they can accomodate full 18-19 track audio albums. Martin Just trying to help, sometimes falling short, I am only human after all.

Yes, that one will record and play the 80 minute CD's. It may not record with the Wizard such as CD to CD. It depends on which version of Roxio's Easy Cd Creator you have. I have an older HP drive that will record 80 minut CDs, but not with the Wizard or CD to CD. I have to edit manually and write from a file. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

Your model (HP 9100) should be fully compatible with 80min cd's. I didn't bother to check HP's website, but I'm pretty sure since I used to own an HP 8110e CDRW drive which could handle them.

Wouldn't hurt to check HP's site though just in case there are any known issues...

Don't worry about compatibility, I have one of them old-school 2x write 6x read SCSI-2 CD-R's from HP, still works like a charm! Writes 80min cd's no hassles.
