I added a 5th ip address for another hostname on an NT4 SP6a web server. The address is pingable on this box, it's in ipconfig /all, and I had no problem in setting it up in IIS4. However, I could not see this ip from any other computer. I deleted it and tested it as the second ip address on another NT server in the same closet and got the same result. Without deleting it from the second server, I put the ip on a win98 PC down the hall and got an immediate ip conflict even though it had been previously unpingable from this win98 pc. After deleting it from the 2nd server, the ip worked fine in succession on the win98 pc, an NT 4 workstation and a laptop in the server room. I would appreciate any help on this.

look up the properties of the nic? maybe it can't handle more than 4? Setnaffa is an MCSE-4.0 (working on W2K) with a few other certs, too...

May be you setup incorrect mask or network number in 5th IP addr?

The problem seems to have corrected itself. I can now ping the ip and access it remotelythrough a web browser. It may have been a problem with the switch which I do not administer. I was going to test pinging it directly from another computer using a crossover cable when I discovered that I could see it on the whole network.
In terms of replies to my query, I had mentioned that I had tried this ip as the second one on a different server in the same closet and it had not worked there either which suggests, but not confirms, that it might be an external problem and not a NIC problem. I had already checked that the ip in question was correctly entered in the registry. To be sure, I deleted it and the subnet mask from there, restarted, re-entered it in the registry, restarted again and the problem was still there. All my ips are in the sam subnet with the same mask so there's no problem with putting an inappropriate subnet mask in
