Hello! I have about 500 LOG files about 5 megs each in MDBDATA Folder. Is this Normal? Not sure how to handle.

I do full backups using Veritas Software Everyday.

i would confirm that vertias is configured to commit and flush the log files.

the log files are normal, and will always be 5mb. They keep track of every inbound and outbound email. These are your transaction logs. they allow the server to "replay" all activity in the event of a shutdown or restart of the Exchange services/server.

500 sounds normal. I do daily full backups of the exchange database. I round robin message level backups because of the volume of mail we have. But the logs pile up fast....

So in short, looks normal, just confirm you commit and flush option is checked in your Veritas software...

I would make sure that you have Circular Logging Enabled on the Info Store otherwise it has been known to leave the Log files behind even after a full backup.

How many users are there on the Exchange server?

Check the dates on the log files. If they are older than your most recent full backup of Exchange then you may have a problem with your backup method.

Are you backing up the Exchange Servers Information Store (FULL Backup) or just system and files?
