4621 IP Phones - Call Appearance Display?

I just purchased and began using a 4621sw IP Phone with my IP Office 406.

The 4621 provides 12 programmable feature keys/call appearances on the main screen. However, each call appearance takes up TWO feature keys (because it spans the entire row).

Is this expected behavior? Is there anyway to limit the 'real estate' for each call appearance to only one feature key?

The width can be changed from full to half.
