4620 IP PHONE IN A G3SI

HEY ALL,
I am running a g3si all old hardware 3. I currently have all 4612's but am trying to get a 4620 to work. It pulled its update from the tftp server fine and upgraded but it hangs at discovering and displays my clan's IP address. Is there a way for this phone to be run on this old system or do I have to wait for the hardware upgrade coming in May. I set up an Alias for the 4620 as a 4612??? Any help would help.

Got the dhcp server to point the phone to right stuff. I have everythin going to where it is supposed to be but it doesn't the set type for the 4612ip alias I gave it. Any suggestions to a phone type I can use.

I'm having the same problem now with a G3SI version 11. Just got off the phone with AVAYA and guess what, the new firmware hoses the 4620 phone to where it won't work with the V11 CM. I have tried everything and I continue to get the wrong set type error. So, what I ended up doing was sending the upgraded phones to my 2.1 CM sites and ordering new phones for this location. Then, I'm not going to upgrade those to the new firmware, just use what comes loaded on the phones.

I find it hard to believe that the firmware can't be rolled back on these phones. I've been trying to trick the phone into taking the old firmware by modifying the 46xxupgrade.scr files but I haven't figured out the magic key to that yet. Anybody ever done this successfully?

I open the scr file and point the 4620 to the firmware I want. I have the same setup with a cm 1.3 (V11) and havent fried a 4620 yet.

In the future everything will work...
