I have a brand new 4602SW IP phone not working on 2.1 (77), it seems to have a new release of firmare on the set and doesn't want to downgrade. Phone shows discovering. Any advise would be welcome.

use a crosscable (otherwise it won't work)
use a pc with manager open and the right firmaware on it
then start the phone
give the phone an ip adres in the range of your pc
then set the callsv abd router th eip of the pc
file server also the ip of the pc
then it should downgrade

Discovering..." means it can't contact the IP Office. Your IP routing is probably incorrect. Check IP settings in the phone, especially the router address, and the IP Route configured in the IP Office.

I have other IP phones all programmed the same way, they all take the updated firmare from the TFTP server. I think it has to do with the version in this phone. As mentioned the phone is brand new and has a 2.x version in it, and our 406 is running 2.1.

The version the phone is running has nothing to do with the version the system is running. Even if it did, a new version will work with an old system but possibly not the other way around.

As I said, "Discovering..." means it cannot find the IP Office because the routing is wrong.

How is the phone programmed = static or DHCP? In the office or out?

The phone is programmed static, its in the office and the router is the internal office router that all of our PC's are looking at. The phone is on premise at this time. As mentioned I have older IP phones in the office that took the upgrade when I went from 1.4 to 2.1 on the 406.

Hmm, strange. Is Manager open on a PC on the same subnet and the TFTP address set correctly in the phone?

Can you reset the phone (HOLD 73738#)?

No idea. I'm still sticking with a routing issue, that's what the Discovering message means.

What are:
IP address of the phone?
Subnet mask of the phone?
Gateway of the phone?
IP address of the TFTP server?
IP address of the system?
Subnet mask of the system?

And/or....plug the phone directly in to the IP Office, nothing else on the network except for it and a Manager PC. If you're a reseller try it on a default system in the lab, use DHCP.

Yes, done it all".....what? What's the supposed to mean? I asked several questions.

IP 192.168.0.166
Sub Net 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.5
TFTP 192.168.0.4
System 192.168.0.3
System Subnet 255.255.255.0
As mentioned I have other phones programmed the same and they took the TFTP upgrade to 1.8.x

I belive that this is a hardware incompatibility

IP Phone 4602SW+ IP batch no. 700381916 has compatible issues with the following :-

1. IPNC currently not compatible ( awaiting confirmation for a fix from Avaya )
2. IP OFFICE 403 DT ( private build available ) fix expected in NOV 06
3. IP OFFICE 406 V1 DT ( private build available) fix expected in NOV 06
4. IP 401 not compatible

you need a 4602 not a 402SW

Does the 4602 have the extra ethernet port for a PC on it?

If we upgrade the IPO 406 to v3.2 will the 4602SW work or will we have the same problem?
