Hello,

I am planning on upgrading my old 8x burner and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the new 40x burners? If so which ones are good... I have always heard good things about plextor.

Please post and tell me what you think.

Brad

has some good deals on burners. Read the reviews from people that have purchased them. Plextor is supposed to be the best, but pricey. Lite-On has been getting good reviews. I just ordered a Cyberdrive do to the cheap price and good reviews.( it's a 36x)I've had an HP 4x for years and have had no problems with it. It's just slow. A couple of weeks ago I bought the 36X Cyberdrive (CW068D) that nobrian was talking about. It works great, no problems at all. Burns with no problem at 36X. No coasters yet. But I bought it from Nexthardwareshop.com. Their shipping is a little pricey though.

I paid $65.95 including shipping at NewEgg.... "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

I just recently purchased a 32x10x40 from TDK, and it works like a dream! Whatever you decide to go with, make sure that it has a "buffer underrun protection". This is very important to have! Also, you would probably have to get specialty blank cds that are capable of high speed burning.
