We have a 4006 with a Supervisor 2+ engine. The specs of the sup2+ say that it offers basic L3 routing. What specifically does that mean?

This is really what I am looking for...we want to set up 3 VLans, one shared vlan for specific servers and such, that all vlans need access to, and two other vlans that are seperate from each other.

I have done this at other branch locations but they are using 2900 series switches. We previously had a Sup2 engine that did not have any L3 support but the Sup2+ does.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Basically it can't do all the highend L3 features, meaning higher end routing protocols, higher end QoS, etc..

But one thing, it says it doesn't support EIGRP, but it really does, that might be the same for BGP, OSPF, etc..

It will do static and connected routes, I beleive it will also run RIP, but no advanced routing protocols.

BadDos that is incorrect, I have successfully setup EIGRP on a Sup II Plus, and it has been working great..

Which raises my curiosity when they say its not supported.

Ah... Maybe it's a bug in their IOS. :) They forgot to limit it out.

heh

well, knowing cisco and their IOS lately, it doesn't surprise me
