Customer wants to conference up to 4 or more on a single T73163 using a MICS. Can this be done or is there a way they can do this without using a conference service. They have POTS with 3 Way Calling on each line. They have a total of 6 POTS connected to the MICS.

Internally, 3 on a conference is the max in a Norstar. If one of the parties is remote, you could set up 3 way calling on the line and then do conferencing on the system also...

Thanks. Is there any Add On conf. Equiptment i could install for them they conf. A lot.

Use both the line feature and the system feature.
i.e. do the 3 way with system then do another with the line.

Otherwise that what Conference companies are used for.
Or upgrade to a bigger or better system.

they are open to upgrading their existing nortel. Are there any upgrades that I can add to the nortel system to provide this feature?

they like to do a lot of on the spot conferencing they do not want to use a conference service.

To begin with...the MICS is EOL...Even the BCM platform was limited to 3 party conference. As far as I know there is no third party software/hardware that 'talks' to the Norstar to provide you additional on-switch conference capability. Conferencing is one of those things that takes up DSP resources, thus the limitation.

I thought the BCM could do more than 3, just googled Meteme conferecing and found this from the Avaya manual.
"Using the MeetMe Conferencing application, callers can establish a multi party teleconference up to 18 participants for BCM50 systems, or 60 participants for BCM450 systems (up to 120 participants in multiple conferences on BCM450 systems if a Capacity Expansion Card is installed)".

If this option is too expensive then conferencing services from the carrier is the rout to go.

Meet Me Conferencing...That would probably fit the bill for him. I apparently was mistaken about the capabilities of the BCM.

Is MeetMe a standard feature of the BCM or does it require a keycode? Also does it work with MICS or CICS?

I believe BCM feature, at one point it was on sale inclusive, I think you have to pay extra, not sure on the key code but if I had to bet yes, the 2 expansion cabinet are for lines and digital sets.
