I want to connect a 3COM 4400 Switch to a Cisco 4506 Switch. The Cisco 4506 Switch is going to be the VTP server, and all the other switches are going to be the clients. My question is how can I connect the 3COM switch to the Cisco Switch since the only trunking protocol that the 3COM switch uses is 802.1q? Is there anything special I have to do on the 3COM switch to establish a connection with the Cisco Switch besides making sure that 802.1q is enabled on the Cisco Switch?

Thank You

I have a document I put together that will show you just what needs to be done.

I have used this procedure many times.

Send me an e-mail and I will send it to you:

This shouldn't be a problem at all. You just have to manually set the Cisco side to trunk mode, and then you will forever have to manually configure VLANs on the 3COM side. That should be about it, really.

I got it working right now thank you both for your help.
