Hi Beholder - I have managed to use a usb-serial convertor (costs around $15 - $20 - try ebay.com) successfully to connect. Once you have connected to the serial port (9600, n, 8, 1) it is fairly straightforward to set IP. see screen capture of session below. to reset back to factory default which doesnt reset the ip but resets password if one has been set try login 3comcso password RIP000 or login recover password recover.
