we have some 3905 phones that run off a remote carrier and for some reason they periodically disable. haven't been able to figure out why. Have any of you guys run into this sort of problem?

do you have ld 30 in your drol and are those sets on the correct firmware?

yes to LD 30. still trying to narrow it down as to whether or not it is the firmware. as of right now it doesn't seem to matter.

firmware matters, it's just not always something you can see. "sleep walking" can be a function of firmware..and if the sets on that remote don't ALL match the firmware on the cpu, then traffic alone could take other sets down...

backplane traffic on a remote is more of a problem them inhouse sets due to badwidth issues

You Aren't alone on this one.

I have actually seen this happen as well - once to a 3903 and twice to (the same) 3904. Both sets have the most recent firmware and were working perfectly a few hours prior to going to sleep. Neither one was disabled in the switch and both came back to life when called from another extension.
Not sure yet why it happens, but very relieved it doesn't happen very often as the 3904 is my own office telephone. We have no 3905s here, so I can't speak from experience there.
