Hi,

I have a customer who uses the Avaya 3810 cordless phone. They are having issues where callers cannot hear the receptionist. The customer has replaced the battery and has unplugged and replugged the relay box that plugs into a digital port of the IP Office. Problem is still there. Receptionist can hear the customer just fine.

My thought is to replace the phone, but I know Avaya no longer makes new ones and ones that I have found on the web are quite pricey. I just want to make sure I'm not missing any other troubleshooting tips before letting the customer know they need to buy a replacement.

Any ideas?

Make sure the antenna cable is plugged in properly. It is an RJ45 outlet on the antenna and I've had issues when clients use an RJ11 line cord. It can get a little off and cause connectivity issues. If their jacks are RJ11, I usually make a cord with an RJ11 for the jack and an RJ45 for the antenna-side. Never had an issue once I've done that.

Have you tried to use 3810 to call out other number? If the issue is still there, therefore the problem is with your phone itself.
