I have a GBIC 1000-SX in one of my 3524XL switches. The link is going up, down, up down, up down, and on and on and on...

about 30 times a minute...

everything was peachy until today. Been up for years. The uptime on the switches was at 152 weeks.

I rebooted the switches.

Same problem.

Config of the port on both switches that are connected is as follows:

interface GigabitEthernet0/2
description Fiber Link to Server Room
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 999
switchport mode trunk
!

Pretty standard stuff.

Thoughts? Bad GBIC? Bad Gig port that the GBIC slides into?

probably bad fiber or could be a batch gbic.. i'd try new fiber patch cables..
