Hi all,

Was wondering why under the "Number of Messages" field - the Maximum = 50.

And the user supposedly has 15 messages in her VoiceMail box and it is "full" already.

I read up in the SysAdmin Help - nothing found yet.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any help.

Are you using Record-A-Call?

If so then you may have run out of disk space

Disk Space can also be used up by failed emails.

Hi,

This is a fairly new 3300 - 3 yrs old.
But, we have 200+ users.

But, I'm not sure how to check hard drive space - I'll try to lookup in Help.

Have no idea if we are using Record-a-call?

Failed Emails?
We are not using any email functionality - still using the PBX part or the system is on a closed private LAN.
Only the receptionist has a 5550 IP console.
Not utilizing VOIP yet.

Thx.

When was the last time the system was re-booted?

If it is longer than 3 months I would setup a scheduled re-boot OOH's when it is less disruptive

Hi,

System was rebooted awhile back - not sure -but longer than 3 months - yes.

Ok - that sure sounds strange - a reboot to fix?
Sounds little like Windows....yikes.

Before you reboot, have you checked:

1. The logs? (Check Software logs)
2. The number of messages actually in the mailbox? (Easy way is to ftp to /vmail/d/vm/grp/xxx, where xxx is the mailbox number, and count the number of files)
3. The disk space available? (dosFsShow "/vmail" from the rtc shell )

what about saved messages? what is the limit set to in voicemailbox configuration? also it tells you in there how many new and saved messages are in that mailbox.

HI IrwinMFlethcher,

I'll try your suggestions.

1. Software logs:
Just alot of these messages today...

DAM audit recovered trk swid...
trkhdir_ logged invalid msg in releasing PLID...

2. Number of messages:

21 messages! Back to Dec 2006.
One message is 0 bytes?

3. Disk Space Avail:

I only know about the RTC shell on boot - how else can I access?

Much appreciated!

Telnet, or connect a serial cable to the RTC shell, then run the command:

dosFsShow "/vmail

You need to use a secure telnet client
I have attached a link
You will need to telnet to the IP address of the controller

from the prompt type (without comments) 'open ip address 2002

When you get the login prompt enter your login username and password

at the > type dosFsShow "/vmail"

obviously if you have direct access to the controller you can attach a serial cable and use a terminal emulator (hyper terminal, procomm plus etc.) set the port speed to 9600
there is no login required on the maintainance port so just type the command at the > prompt

Hi,

Great - thanks for the secure telnet software!

Can anyone help me with the results?
Looks like disk space is OK?

Now what?
Thanks for your continued help!

Hate to say it try a reboot trust me it cures most things on a 3300

Now I would go back to the user and verify the problem.

They can obviously get past the 15 message limit that they reported since they have 21 messages. I'd check the mailbox (through the user interface) and see how many messages it reports and compare it to the files on the system.

What is the name of that 0 bytes file? is it old, if so you can prob delete it.

Hi,

I went back into System Admin console and now the user has more messages.

I had previously mentioned she has 15 "New Messages".
Now she has 24 "New messages".

There are 0 Saved Messages.

The Maximum is set to 50.

Delete Messages After: 15 days
Date/Time Stamp: Play

Not sure what happened in the meantime?
I have not done anything - except, I re-saved the record.

Any ideas?

Well, either way - it works now.
Her VM now says she has 24 messages and does "not" get the mailbox full anymore.

Thanks for your help guys!
