Are 3100 cisco switches good for CCNP home lab? Are they set base switch?

Which is better for my studies 2900 XL or 3100?

Neither one is a set based switch. The Cisco 2948, 4000, 5000, 6000 series models are all set based.

The all 1200 series switch is set base,I think it can be used if you can not afford a Catalyst 5000 switch for CCNP.

The old 1200 series switch is set base,I think it can be used if you can not afford a Catalyst 5000 switch for CCNP.

Personally I wouldn't spend any money on a switch like that.. All new Catalyst switches are moving to IOS based, even on the bigger boxes. So I personally would jsut read up enough on them to pass the test.. They're not that much different than the IOS, just the formatting of the command is done via the 'set' command.. I had to work on one the other day and I totally forgot any of the commands, but 'set ?' is your friend...
