300w PS enough for 2700+?

OK, I recently tried to upgrade my PC by adding a new motherboard (A7V8X), new memory (512 DDR PC2700), and new CPU (XP 2700+). However, I only have a 300w power supply for right now. So anyway, I plugged everything in, and flipped the switch and it went through the POST. Well, after it's finished, it just goes black. The monitor doesn't turn off, it doesn't show me any errors, nothing. I checked the PS and it works fine, as well as all the other components (except the memory, mobo, and CPU, which I haven't been able to really check, but I'm pretty sure those should be fine).

So what could be causing this? In addition to all the stuff I listed above, I have a Radeon 7000, 30 gig WD HD, CDRW, and floppy.

Could be the power supply. Or the heatsink on the processor. Or memory. Or the motherboard. Or something else. Try checking the CPU temp as you run the computer and try removing everything you can, running with just the minimum required to boot and see if it works. With 300w you should at least be able to boot and run at idle.

Are you trying to boot with your NEW hardware on an OLD installation of windows? is so, format the hard drive and reinstall windows so that it can reconfigure for the new components (always best to clean install after such radical hardware changes. Martin

i found out that micron chips hace a very high stanbt current.

i.e. all micron modules draw maximum current all the time
and the ps is overloaded

OK, I'm going to have another go at it this afternoon and see what happens. Maybe I can get some more info.
