My fault entirely that I have 3 version of XP Pro on my machine.

One "good" version which I use and want to keep.
One "Bad" version which was another full install to replace the "good" version when it was corrupt (now fixed)
One "set up" version which will not complete or abort (just says the XP Pro setup disk does not contain correct info even though it is the disk I ran the other two versions from)

Question is how to remove "Bad" and the "Set Up" versions to leave me with the one "Good" version and free up some much needed space, I have deleted the prgram files and Windows folders as they were on my D drive and my main install is on my C drive.
Any help apprciated (and go gently as I have never had to do anything like this before)
If you need anymore info to assist let me know, thanks in advance.......

Regards, Phil.

Try this.

HOW TO: Edit the Boot.ini File in Windows XP (Q289022)

This is assuming that you have an Operating System choice screen at Bootup with the 3 mentioned choices to choose from. Removing the entries for the Windows on D: drive and Setup may solve your problem.

Backup the Boot.ini file in case you make a mistake with your choice of operating system.

The one you want to keep will probably have part of this line in the Boot.ini file.

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)

"rdisk(0)partition(1)" means first hard drive, first partition.

You can also look at the alternative command by typing bootcfg /? at a CMD Prompt.

The boot.ini file is a read only, system and hidden file which requires Hidden and System files to be made visible via Folder Options/ View.

Spot on, worked just fine thanks!

Regards, Phil.
