I have a Win 2k server acting as PDC. It has 2 network cards, one of which has been disabled up until today. I enabled the card but I cannot ping it. It returns "Destination Host Unreachable". It does not allow me access to the internet which is what it is there for. All of the other equipment on the network is functioning. There are no errors for the card in the Event Viewer and it does not show any problems in Device Manager. The lights are on an the Card and on the switch it is attached to. In RRAS under IP Routing-General the cards operating status is Non-Operational.
Could RRAS be causing the problem by not recognising that the card is now operational?
Any suggestions on how to fix it would be great.
Thanks

Have you tried a reboot of the server?

I am assuming that you have given it an IP address.

Just to expand on JRMS's point.
An IP address which is different to that of the other adapter.

It is a bit weird but the problem ended up being the settings in Routing and Remote Access. It appears as though because I set up RRAS with one network card disabled it just would recognise it when i enabled it. I used network monitor and I could see packets coming and going from the network card when i tried to ping or telnet or ftp to it but nothing was coming up in Windows. I notice that within RRAS the network card was Non-operational. I deleted the RRAS settings and reconfigured it and now it works fine. Don't know why this happened as I have done the same thing on anothere Win2K box with no problem, but thats Windows for you.
