2nd CAP module mirrors 1st module

I've looked through the FAQ's and searched but didn't find an answer...

I have a customer who replaced the second CAP module on their very old 8 X 24 system. He didn't unplug the jack from the wall first; he just unplugged from the module and then plugged in the new one. The second module has the exact same buttons programmed the same way as the first module and if he changes programming on a button the first module it changes the same button on the second. And vice versa. I had him unplug the jack from the wall to reset the modules, but he is having the same problem. Did he fry the second module by not unplugging from the wall jack before he repaced it?

that second CAP will need its own power wiring - assuming that was not done
wiring shd be wall jack > CAP2 > CAP2 > M7324

I apologize for not making it clear: he replaced the existing CAP module so the wiring is already there.

So are you saying that you want two cap modules on your M7324. Then under programming go an turn that module to become a cap module. If not you will not be able to program lines. Another way is to go under maintenance program disable and renable the modules. You should see it under devices.

I don't think I worded my original question very well...so here goes:

They already had a M7324 with 2 cap modules. The 2nd module (farthest away from the 7324) had buttons that stuck really bad - other than that it worked fine. So the customer ordered a refurb CAP module and replaced the one with the sticky buttons himself. So none of the programming should have changed. I've never seen this happen before where both modules are programming exactly alike and any changes he makes to the buttons on the closest module to the phone automatically change the corresponding buttons on the other module. I thought maybe he fried the refurb CAP module when he unplugged the line cord to it (not from the wall jack) and didn't unplug the power transformer either...

commgal could you try and reset the two CAP's by unplugging the line cord from the wall, then plug the set back in and when the CAP's start flashing press and hold down the two bottom buttons on the first row & last row til you see the little arrow going up the buttons, while the other CAP is still flashing do the same with it. That should fix your problem.
