2k/xp workgroup can't access each other

I eatablished workgroup, named "HOME". There are 2 PC, one is win 2000 and the other is XP Pro. Both them connected to LinkSys router(192.168.1.1), which then connect to DSL modem.

Currently XP can see 2k in "Network Place", but can not access. Error msg is like "have no pomission and the network path is unavible".

2k can ping XP, but can not open workgroup "HOME". Error msg is like "the server lists are not available".

2k is 192.168.1.100; xp is 192.168.1.101. Both them, Computer Browser Service and server service are starting. Tcp/IP setting is "using NetBIOS from DHCP server".

In xp, uncheck the ICF.

Could someone figure the problem to make each PC to access other sharing resource?

. Be certain under TCP/IP Properties, Advanced, DNS tab, that "Enable Netbios over TCP/IP" is done for both, and that LMHOSTS is disabled;
. Something, anything, shared on both machines;
. No firewall issues at the moment, especially not the native ICF Firewall of XP, or "hidden" firewalls from Antivirus programs such as PC-Illan;
. Real logons with usernames and passwords, all machines. No blank or empty password logons, no Okay, or hitting Escape to exit the logon screen;
. All users of computer A have username and password entries as users of Computer B, and vice-versa

It can take up to two hours for the Computer Browser (Master Browser) to list all the computers in the network. Especially if your rebooting alot, the computers will keep fighting for the Master Browser role.

Set up as what you said, still no access each other.

Same sitution: in xp,can see other but no accessible; in 2000, no list for servers in "HOME" WORKGROUP.

I am wondering maybe possible setting up in LinkSys router. It is dynamic IP.

Your NAT addressing from the router is fine.

It sounds like a silly permissions issue. If you are using NTFS filestore on one (or both) it requires two steps:

. Add the user of the other machine, (or "Everyone" or "Guest, depending on settings" ;

. Be certain the NTFS Permissions match;
