2811 w/ two fast ethernet ports

I just purchased a 2811 router and I was suprised to see that it automatically comes with two fast ethernet ports on the front. This looks like an ideal setup for failover. How can I configure one for primary and the other as a failover for secondary?

Can I just run a patch cable from one of these ports to one of the switches in my MDF closet and the other port to a different switch in my MDF?
