So I pulled a couple 2620 routers out of storage and was performing a password recoveries on them, bumbling around with the IOS commands (I don't get in there on this level very often).

Now when I restart (both of) the 2620('s) and view the start up in hyperterminal ...I see a bunch of J characters with long stems (can not cut and paste as they turn into something else when you do). I can't see the IOS, as I can't log in, or do anything. They are not responsive.

What in the God's name have I done?

Thanks,

Mike

Research, research, research ...and oh my God I answered my own question.

I miswrote the configuration register. Instead of using 0x2142 I must have put 0x2124 (both times), so the console speed changed to 19200. Corrected by mofiying the hyperterminal baud rate.

Figured I would share so nobody wasted any time on a dumbass mistake I made.
