I need to configure/program an Option 11 with these configuration requirements.

CLS - CTD FBD WTA MTD FNA HTA ADD HFD MWA CNDA
TYPE - 2616
HUNT - (5502) IS NEXT PHONE IN GROUP
LHK - 1
KEY 0 - SCR 5501 (RINGING CALL APPEARANCE)
KEY 3 - TRN
KEY 4 - MCK
KEY 5 - MIK

Now here is the problem except for the last few days i have never touched a switch of any kind before. I have been going through the manual and poking around with some commands but I can not really find anything that covers a complete configuration.

For example it appears I need to configure a CDB as well for some of the above options to be configured, but I do not have the requirements I need for that. Also for 1 phone do I need to configure a data and voice?

This seems like it would be fairly simple if I had some experience or some formal training but unfortunately I do not have the luxury of either at this point. So any help will be greatly appreciated.

You are correct in that some features need to be turned on in the CDB, and sometimes other places too. This usually is done in FTR black in the CDB. The documentation also doesn't give you a "complete" step by step on how to do it either. The reason is that the Nortel switch has so many features that you can implement, and without knowing which features you have on your switch, this question is not as easy as it sounds.

You can copy sets that are existing and be pretty secure that they will work; are you looking at a specific feature you want turned on?

Unfortunately I do not have anything to copy. As far as I know it is just the requirements in the initial post but for example I can not use MWA in the CLS or MCK, MIK in the KEYS 4 and 5 unless something is enabled in the CDB.

I am trying to use it with this guy:

Which is supposed to emulate 2616 phone sets

Those are all Message keys; and it needs to be turned on in several places. Do you have a voicemail system?

Can you log into your switch a print out an existing phone that is working, like yours?

LD 11
PRT DNB
DN (enter your extension)

You will get back the TN that the phone is built on.

LD 11
PRT TN (enter TN)

At the Options menu in the CDB you need MCI (message center included) That should allow you to change the phones once that is turned on.

This switch is not set up as our office switch. We have another for that purpose. I am not sure if there is a voice mail system on this switch or not. The option 11 is just one we have for testing.

The TN is 005 0 00 01
TYPE 2616
CDEN 8D
CUST 0
AOM 0
FDN
TGAR 1
LND NO
NCOS 0
SGRP 0

CLS - HAS A LOT

AST
IAPG 0
AACS NO
ITNA NO
DGRP
MLWU_LANG 0
DNDR 0

I looked for the option menu in the CDB but could not see where to enter in the MCI

LD 15
Req CHG

Cust (whatever cust number you are using)
OPT mci

enter thru the rest.

Some or all of the options you need may already be programmed in the switch. Have you tried building a new TN to see if you get any errors?

First find an unused TN (terminal number)
Code:
LD 20
REQ: LUVU (list unused voice units)
TYPE: 2616 (phone type)
TN <cr> (just press Enter)
TYPE 2616 TN 008 0 00 09 8D VCE
TYPE 2616 TN 008 0 00 13 8D VCE
        ...
TYPE 2616 TN 015 0 00 14 8D VCE
TYPE 2616 TN 015 0 00 15 8D VCE
You can select any of the TNs shown ... as an example, let's use 8 9.

Now you need to find an unused DN (directory number):
Code:
LD 20
REQ: PRT
TYPE: LUDN
CUST 0
DN <cr>

CUSTOMER 00 - UNUSED DNS:
0 1 2 3417 3419 3438 3454 3900 3910 3915
3917 3919 3929 3938 394 3959 396 397 3981 3982
This shows available DNs are 0000-2999, 3417, 3419, 3438, 3454, 3900, 3910, 3915, 3929, 3938, 3940-3949, etc. You'll want to use something in the normal range of other phones in your system so you don't interfere with other system options that might be programmed.

I don't know what this integration board is used for but it looks like it uses a group of DN's, so let's use DN 3940 through 3949.

Now you can start building a set:
Code:
LD 20
REQ: NEW
TYPE: 2616
TN 8 9
DES SPCL
CUST 0
AOM <cr>
FDN <cr>
TGAR <cr>
LDN <cr>
NCOS 3 Class Of Service (may need to change later)
RNPG <cr>
SSU <cr>
SGRP <cr>
CLS CTD FBD WTA MTD FNA HTA ADD HFD MWA CNDA
RCO <cr>
HUNT 3941
LHK 1
SCI <cr>
PLEV <cr>
AST <cr>
IAPG <cr>
MLWU_LANG <cr>
DNDR <cr>
KEY 0 SCR 3940
  MARP
  CPND <cr>
  VMB <cr>
KEY 3 TRN
KEY 4 MCK
KEY 5 MIK
KEY <cr>
If you got all the way through with no errors, you've just built the first set of the group. The second set would use KEY 0 SCR 3941 and HUNT 3942, etc. You may need to change the NCOS.

Hope this helps.

What is the difference with the voice and data units, with the 2616 do I need to use the data units at all?

I seem to be getting a lot closer, is there any reason I can only use the odd number tn's? for example if I use TN 5 0 or 5 2 it does not seem to do anything for me. But if I use 5 1 and 5 3 I now have 2 lines up and running.

Are you getting an error message when you try to build something in 5 0 or 5 2? What happens when you try to input those TNs?

I do not get any errors, the Dialogic card just does not see them apparently. I have 8 lines on all the odd number tn's (1 3 5 7 9 11 13 15 and the sample apps that came with the dialogic card appear to be working.

I did the STAT 5 and the odd tn say '2616 idle'
the even say 'UNEQ'
