2610 with ADSL WIC Setup 1

I am trying to setup a router that will receive multiple DSL connections. One line will be connected directly to a ADSL WIC and others will be brought in from a 678 modem to a ethernet port on the router.

My question is, how do I configure both a static and dynamic IP connection on the WIC? I use Qwest for the DSL line and they use PPPoA for authentication.

How would I configure this to eventually do load-balancing? Thanks.

Here's a little update. I tried a configuration similar to this, but I didn't get connected, other posts say it should work though. Any ideas why?

I'm finally getting a "Carrier Detect" and everything seems to be working except some kind of routing issue. I can ping from the router to anywhere, I can ping the router from a PC connected to Ethernet0, but I cannot ping an outside IP from the PC.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Awesome!!! Thanks JOAMON! I'm getting closer. I can ping WAN IP addresses now, but it's still not translating domain names. I can't browse to google.com, for example, but if I put a specific IP address it will bring something up. What can I do for this? Thanks again.

Need to specify a DNS server......
Clients are getting an ip address but nothing listed for DNS or WINS server if in a domain.
Think you just need to add this setting in you dhcp configuration. If xp pc from dos window check ipconfig /all and see if there are any dns servers listed. If none then this is the problem.

If you put this in the router right click on your network connection and disable it....wait a few seconds and the enable it again....recheck ipconfig /all to see if dns information is listed. If all is well you should be able to ping

I don't remember entering in any DNS listing in the router. I haven't seen anything about that. I am running a DHCP off the router so do I need to enter the DNS listings there?

206.163.82.4 is a dns server I know of...you can use it for testing but should replace it with one from your service provider for quiker response time.

I just added ad DNS-Server to the DHCP settings and it's up and running. Thank you for all your help. Now that I have it configured for a dynamic IP, no I need to figure out how to do it for a static IP, which is how I'm actually going to be using it.

Currently I have the static IP running off a 678 router without NAT, so what would I need to change in order to get a static IP working?

Refresh my memory on your hardware...right now we have one dsl connection running on atm0/0 and you have another one on a cisco 678. That one is not hooked up right now correct?

Well, currently I have a line on a 678 running with a block of 30 static IP address, and one of those if assigned to the 678. I am trying to move that over to the atm0/0.

I was just testing the ADSL-WIC on another DSL line I have, which happens to be getting a dynamic IP.

Do you understand? I know I just went throught setting up the atm0/0 for a dynamic ip, but now i need to get it running on a static ip configuration.

Yes, and in the near future and second DSL line, with dynamic IP, will be coming off a 678 and running into a Ethernet Port. Currently we are running a few servers off this one line.
