Hi,

is it possible to do inter-vlan routing with a 2501 cisco router and a 1912 cisco switch ? I think the router must have a FastEthernet port to do trunking ?

Is there any way to make it work with a 10mbps ?

When I try to put an IP address on a subinterface, I see this message :
Configuring IP routing on a LAN subinterface is only allowed if that subinterface is already configured as part of an IEEE 802.10, IEEE 802.1Q, or ISL vLAN

thank you and sorry for my english

You are correct, you need a 100 Mb interface to do trunking. The command you need to use on the subinterface is encapsulation dot1q x - where x is the vLAN number.

Also, I am not sure that the 1900 series switches do trunking - you should check this.

Cheers,
Michael.
